A 1099 DBA is an independent contractor operating as an unincorporated sole proprietor with a registered DBA business name (other than your birth name). DBA stands for Doing Business As. You register your DBA with the county or state in which your place of business resides. Along with your DBA, vendors also prefer that you obtain an EIN.
A corp-to-corp contractor (also referred to as “C2C”) is an independent contractor operating as a registered incorporated business entity such as an LLC or S-Corp. Vendors prefer corp-to-corp contractors to operate with an EIN.
